Synthetic data for forensic analysis

In order to provide reliable forensic evidence, methods must be empirically validated with robust test data. In forensic biometrics the ethical sourcing of large datasets, that are GDPR compliant, can be challenging.

Reli worked with a client on a novel project to use generative artificial intelligence (gen-AI) to produce styled synthetic faces that could be used to validate forensic biometric casework. This pioneering proof of concept combines forensic science, biometrics and artificial intelligence, paving the way for exciting and innovative solutions that cross all three specialisms.
